A Group of Frogs

A group of frogs were traveling through the woods, and two of themfell into a deep pit. All the other frogs gathered around the pit.When they saw how deep the pit was, they told the unfortunate frogs they would never get out. The two frogs ignored the comments and tried to jump up out of the pit. The other frogs kept telling them to stop,that they were as good as dead.Finally, one of the frogs took heed to what the other frogs were saying and simply gave up. He fell down and died. The other frog continued to jump as hard as he could.Once again, the crowd of frogs yelled at him to stop the pain and suffering and just die. He jumped even harder and finally made it out.Leaping for joy!When he got out, the other frogs asked him, "Why did you continue jumping?Didn't you hear us?" The frog explained to them that he was deaf!!!He thought they were encouraging him the entire time.

This story teaches 3 lessons:
1) There is power of life and death in the tongue. An encouraging word to someone who is down can lift them up and help them make itthrough the day, if not life.

2) A destructive word to someone who is down can be what it takes to kill them. Be careful of what you say. Speak life to those whocross your path.

3) Turning a deaf ear to all the destructive words when you are ina life or death situation, can be a good thing.

The power of words ... it is sometimes hard to understand that an encouraging word can go such a long way. Anyone can speak words th attend to rob another of their spirit to continue in difficult times.Special is the individual who will take the time to encourage another.Be a special to others.juz a little something to share during the exam period, although i dunno how the frog could hear the other frogs after he got out of the well since he was deaf.haha..all the best! Hey guys, I was thinking:
since everyone's busy preparing for their exams, why not share a few links to some videos that i found to be rather funny?

Perhaps you've got that really long reading to do, why not break it up into 4 parts, read up on one part, then watch a video clip, read the next part, then watch the next video clip?

I've read on some online newsletter that your brain remembers better in cycles, so why not increase the levels of the happiness chemical in your bloodstream after reading up on that big topic as you watch these clips and perhaps laugh out loud; relieving yourself of some stress in the process?

Yes it's true! Exercise can make you a much more effective person! (Happy too!)
I used to make excuses like i've got no time and all that; it's only until recently, after the powerful sermon, reflection and realisation, did i remember how different it felt to be energetic and fired up (youth) to do things fast, and quick. Exercise can make you think faster, so what are you waiting for?

Hey all, thanks a million for being so spontaneous when i brought my friend down for service, P2P and the subsiquent services! I'd say this whole turn of events has really been in God's timing. Thanks for making my friend comfortable and praise God for Alvin's selflessness! School work has been taking up all my time so i haven't had time to talk to you all (properly) or even my okio but thanks to all who stepped out of their comfort zone to talk to my friend =)

Anyway, i realised that we're going to be having something interesting done during the term break, i hope to be able to play games and have fun with all of you again! (remember to mark your calendar when the date is decided okay?)

Hi :)
this first few weeks of school have been so stressful that yesterday, i fell sick.
i can't believe that i was so stressed that i had no appetite to eat and would feel like puking whenever i smelt food. so far, i haven't puked and i'm much better now after taking medication and having a whole day's of rest. i can't believe i'm letting module bidding, time table planning, tutorial balloting, new things taught in lectures get at me like that. i prayed for healing last night when i felt really unwell after i finally sent in my ballots for my tutorials. it was an agonizing experience and it didn't help to find out that certain tutorial timings had changed and i found out the night before tutorial balloting started that some tutorial timings had changed. the lecturer only mentioned to the group that there were changes during the lecture yesterday and guess the others had to be thankful the Cors server was down and no one could enter and make a wrong choice of ballot.

I have to say it's good to see you guys around school now and then.

My first week of school was like - whoa! i'm going to school! yay!
2nd was so-so. luke warm. cause of module bidding. and i had to learn all the concepts and know how of choosing the right combination of modules and using spreadsheet to consolidate all the tutorial and lecture timings to ensure there are no clashes. thank you all for giving me tips and advice on what to do, what modules to take...

Although the IVLE and CORS is helpful in a certain way, i think it's a double edged sword. especially when the server goes down during critical and semi critical bidding/balloting periods.

A WORSHIP-HUNGRY HEART

People on a plane and people on a pew have a lot in common.

All are on a journey. Most are well-behaved and presentable. Some
doze, and others gaze out the window. For many, the mark of a good
flight and the mark of a good worship assembly are the same. "Nice,"
we like to say. "It was a nice flight/It was a nice worship service."

A few, however, are not content with nice. They long for something
more. The boy who just passed me did. I heard him before I saw him. I
was already in my seat when he asked, "Will they really let me meet
the pilot?" The question floated into the cockpit, causing the pilot
to lean out.

"Well, come on in."

With a nod from his mom, the youngster entered the cockpit's world of
controls and gauges and emerged minutes later with eyes wide. "Wow!"
he exclaimed. "I'm so glad to be on this plane!"

No one else's face showed such wonder. I studied the faces of the
other passengers but found no such enthusiasm. I mostly saw
contentment: travelers content to be on the plane, content to be
closer to their destination, content to be out of the airport,
content to sit and stare and say little.

Do you see why I say that people on a plane and people on a pew have
a lot in common? Enter a church sanctuary and look at the faces.
Content to be there. Content to sit and look straight ahead and leave
when the service is over. "Seek and you will find," Jesus promised
(Matt. 7:7). And since a nice service is what we seek, a nice service
is usually what we find.

A few, however, seek more. A few come with the childlike enthusiasm
of the boy. And those few leave as he did, wide-eyed with the wonder
of having stood in the presence of the pilot himself.

here's what u guys missed for those who didnt come! was a great time to see the whole ministry come together for a historical event- first time chi alpha ever held a sports tournament- u could feel the excitement and joy in the atmosphere, some sort of family day kind of thing where we just relaxed and had fun together, fellowshipping and mixing around with pple from the other sections- i personally felt that we should have this every year- was glad that i made the effort to wake up early in the morning to go down, even though we didnt play captains ball cos of the rain, *to be rescheduled* (and i didnt intend to play also la.. hoping they had enough pple so i didnt have to play...) alvin's fren shanhan came to play basketball wah he was so pro! let's hope he comes back for more of our events! (maybe. we should have our own sports day.)
