Was clearing my mailbox and chanced upon the email that gave Susanna Wesley's definition of sin. (I was talking about it in reference to Jiabin's remarks about sin during last week's cell.) Read on...Once asking his mother for a definition of sin, John Wesley received a response fit for theology books. "Take this rule," she wrote to John. "Whatever weakens your reason, impairs the tenderness of your conscience, obscures your sense of God, or takes off your relish of spiritual things; in short, whatever increases the strength and authority of your body over your mind, that thing is sin to you, however innocent it may be in itself."
Powerful truth. Any comments?

its kinda scary when u put it into her context.
like blogging/reading blogs could be a sin. (oh no...close down the blog!!) ha~ but i guess if we choose something else over what we're supposed to do it's already an act of disobedience in itself, (for eg.playing dota into the nite and not doin tawg) just that "sin" is a much stronger word for act of disobedience. yup. got microB prac test tmr......hope i dun do stupid things, hope the bacteria dun die, hope i rem the staining procedure,hope.. hope dilution factor calculate correctly..
yay meddies shld have exams over by the time they read this. now they can pray for the rest of us struggling with work :p

And I guess sin is a very "scary" term in that sense. Even the slightest thought of doing something wrong is a sin. Yet we should not be focused too much on the aspect of not sinning, allowing us to fall into the trap of living a life bound by rules, brought about by our own strength and self-discipline. Rather I guess it is knowing firstly that God's grace is sufficient for us, and that we can live a life -though not entirely free from sin- but more of "lesser degree" by placing our trust in God, and leaning not upon our own strength but His. SOunds really smoky eh? But I guess it's the gist of what I believe la. Agar Agar.
